Design a logo for a local retail store that imports directly from India in addition to promoting local designers and craftspeople. The client wished to capture the vibe of India and the concept of evolving.
Inspired by the lotus flower, Hindi calligraphy and the store itself, I designed a self-contained logo designed to look great on retail ephemera, print and web.
Logo design, Branding, Consultation, Print design
I started with pencil sketches and experimenting with different ways of intertwining the flower with the typography. The client preferred an asymmetrical design
The color palette was inspired by the India moodboard, and the primary logo color was meant to be a departure from the bright colors typically used in retail.
There are 2 versions of the lotus flower, one for dark backgrounds, one version for light.
The logo may be used with or without and enclosing circle. Shown here on reusable shopping bags, storefront, merchandise tags.
